Once parents decided to have their child cared for in an institution, they did not think of all the problems that this decision entails! The child has not yet been born and it is entered in various lists in order to get a place to be looked after. As soon as the child is 3 years old, the search, the re-entry on lists, the begging at the institutions and the hope for a kindergarten place starts again. In addition, various day care centres in Heidelberg have decided that children are no longer allowed to stay in the facilities once they reach the age of 3. However, most kindergarten places are usually only available when school starts. This is problematic if the child is born between November and April. An interim solution, sometimes lasting several months, must be found. There are problems and they have to be discussed with someone who can change them, namely you, dear mayor!
